Darko is a developer who loves building for the open web, currently doing the DevRel thing at SuperTokens. A huge believer in open source and open standards, he’s always experimenting with new tech, with a current soft spot for Solid and Astro.
A community organizer at heart, he runs a local BeerJS branch, helps curate the global BeerJS network, and has co-founded a conference or two (most notably, WhatTheStack). When he’s not wrangling code or community, you can find him cultivating a frankly absurd number of hot peppers, diving into PC and tabletop games, or pestering people about the virtues of Linux. He usually doesn’t refer to himself in the third person, but made an exception for this bio. Feel free to hit him up to chat about anything nerdy!
Metaframeworks: you’re probably using one already and may or may not love the experience – but what if I told you they aren’t rocket science?
In this talk, we’re ditching the buzzwords and over-complication to build one from scratch. Armed with Vite for the front-end, a modern UI framework, a bunch of off-the-shelf-parts readily available on NPM and a healthy dose of curiosity, we’ll piece together the routing, rendering, and all the essentials you’ve been letting metaframeworks handle for you.
Expect a crash course in understanding the tech you use every day. By the end, you might just be asking: „Should I just roll one myself?“ And no, you probably shouldn’t. But it’s sure fun building one and understanding what makes them tick.
